Why the remote control of my SONY VPL-BW7 projector stopped working?

The remote control of my SONY VPL-BW7 projector stopped working. I ordered a new one from the official Sony Support Center but even the new one dooes not work. Any ideas?

P.S.: Of course it is not a battery problem...
