Sony STR-DE495P - can I use 6 ohm speakers on this?

Hi,

I have just purchased an STR-DE495P a/v reciever and was wondering if I ca use my current 6 ohm rear/centre speaker package? The text on the rear of the amp says 8 -16 ohm, as a non technical person; I was wondering if I can do anything to enable the speakers to work with the amplifier?

i would not recommend it as you will undoubtably damage one or the other, have a read of this link, it explains things a bit better.
