This is annoying as I have just received a Region A disk that wont play.
The Sony specification doesn;t mention this however page 68 of the manual says:
Region code (BD-ROM/DVD VIDEO only)
Your system has a region code printed on the rear of the unit and will only play a BD-ROM/DVD VIDEO (playback only) labeled with identical region codes
