KD-43XH8505 Specific HD Channels Missing

I'm having reception issues with my KD-43XH8505, not long after I got it it lost all HD channels after Channel 5 HD, so goes from 105 to 201 CBBC. BBC 4 HD, News HD Quest HD are gone.

I still have my 10 year old Sony Bravia HD tv and that can pick up the channels no problem but despite multi retunes they don't appear. Sometimes they'll come back on the guide but with no signal strength. Is this an issue with Android or the receiver on these TVs or is it actually a fault with the TV?

Hi @siellis16

What you are experiencing appears to be that you are not picking up an extended Freeview HD (COM7 & COM8) transmitter.

You should start be checking that your Aerial to pointing to a HD Extended service transmitter.

Freeview HD extended service from 2014 (com7) | free and easy (ukfree.tv)

Unfortunately I do live in an area with no COM7 so it states this for my transmitter:

"The xxxxxxxx mast is not one of the extended Freeview HD (COM7 and COM8) transmitters, it does not provide these high definition (HD) channels: BBC Four HD, BBC News HD, CBeebies HD, Quest HD, Forces TV, FreeSports, More4 +1, Now 70s, PBS America +1, Quest Red +1, RT HD."

If you go to HELP, Signal Diagnostics you should get an idea of your signal strength. Mine is 100/96.

Yeah the aerial is or was picking up Sutton Coalfield which has the HD channels. If I plug my old Sony TV in they work fine but the KD-43 doesn’t so it seems to be the receiver or the software. Would assume if a 10 year old tv can display BBC News HD,  a 2020 should pick up the channels as well.

You really must check signal levels before condemning the TV. They could well be marginal at best.

Also it is not worth expending expense on looking at aerial upgrades etc for this as COM7 is due to shutdown anyway to make way for 5G services... it should already have happened months ago but got a reprieve due to interruptions in the planned work.
