Verizon xperia 1

I've seen an article saying the xperia 1 is able to be used on Verizon,  is this true?

I would really want to buy this phone

Yes. The J8170 (US) version is the only one that will work on CDMA network.

Hi @Kc718, Let me see if I can help out here.

As @iArvee mentioned, the J8170-model is specially designed for the US market, so to my knowledge there should not be a problem using Xperia 1 with Verizon. However, I would suggest that you ask Verizon themselves to be entirely sure.

I hope that gave an answer to your question. Slightly_smiling_Face

Hi again @Kc718,

I am sorry for being a bit vague before. I have now got confirmation that the J8170 US model is in fact Verizon network certified.

Feel free to return if you have any further questions! Slightly_smiling_Face

I bought Xperia 1 unlocked by Amazon. My Verizon wireless contract is postpaid.

But My Xperia 1 can't receive text message.

I asked Verizon customer serviceand Sony mobile customer and I went to the Verizon shop.

But My xperia 1 couldn't receive text message.

I returned my first Xperia 1 to Amazon.

But I have same probrem.

You have to get a new SIM card from Verizon. I was having the same issue. Just go to a VZW store, not an authorized retailer. Let them know that you need a new one.

Call into Verizon and tell them you want to activate a CDMA-less device.

I am on Verizon post paid and it works for me and they know how to do it now since they had a hiccup with Oneplus 6.

I currently have the 6T on verizon, so my sim is already provisioned cdma-less. My questions.

the j8170, is it dual sim/single sim with SD? Could i buy/use the J9110?

I do need a dual sim phone for my job, and im really looking for some feedback from users.

Thank you

J8170 is not dual sim.

J9110 is but not sure if/how it will work on Verizon since I do not think that model got "certified".

And there is no "US Warranty" on the J9110. But J9110 does get updates a few weeks earlier vs the J8170.

I just got my incoming text messages working after spending too much time on CHAT.

They needed to switch my plan to a CDMA-Less "Roam" option. That's all.

I also think the new SIM requirement is a bunch of BS.

Calls worked

Outgoing Texts worked
