If your battery is draining fast, try this...
ANNNDDDD..... I found what's draining my battery after pulling my hair out for the last week Ever since I got the device, I had an idle power consumption ( screen off ) around 120-140 mA and my battery would drain at least 12-15% when sleeping.
Since we can't root the device to find out what's exactly happening and the built-in battery reporting app is useless, I realized that there's an app called GSAM battery monitor that would still provide you with all the information needed without root if you grant permission using adb shell.
- Download the app
- Enable developper mode
- Enable USB debugging ( google is your friend )
- Download Xperia 1 drivers from Sony website ( update drive in device manager for the phone )
- Install ADB tool on windows ( again google is your friend, totally worth it )
- Type : adb shell pm grant com.gsamlabs.bbm android.permission.BATTERY_STATS
You should have an output like this :
-----------------
1|J9110:/ $ pm grant com.gsamlabs.bbm android.permission.BATTERY_STATS
J9110:/ $
C:\Users\Karim>
------------------
Go back to the app and review everything draining the battery.
In my case, it was ironically Google Photos.... yes a built-in app that you can only disable. What was happening is that after restoring whatsapp ( 40,000+ of pics and videos ) it was attempting to sort them and upload them.
I disabled the auto backup but that did not help. What was really going on is a feature called " Face grouping " analyzing every single pic.
Turning it off and my power consumption dropped from 500-ish mA to 200 mA. When screen is off battery drain is around 28-35 mA now ( 4 times lower ) and the battery drops 2-3% overnight.
Many different reasons could drain battery depending on what you have installed and your media etc.. but if you suffer from battery drain, give the app a try.
Btw my battery used to last me 18-20 hours, by that time it would be dead. I'm now finishing the day with 30-ish% left.

Ambient display, and the Smart Camera one, where the camera detects you pointing at something, also run away with the battery, as their sensors are always on.
