the new sony bdv n7100 home cinema system is really nice, i really like the blu ray player but its a 5.1 system,

does anyone know if sony plan to realease a 2.1 system or if they are releasing the blu ray player on its own as i really want the blu ray player but not all the speakers as i have not got much room to put them all in.

Have you considered the following two 2.1 Bluray Sytems?

Altertatively, you could just purchase a Bluray player and if you want speakers, have you considered a soundbar instead?

Although if you really want that design bluray player, you dont have to connect the rear speakers (even though they are wireless), you can have it set as a 2.1 channel system. Look at page 61 of the manual : HERE and it explains how to do so.

thanks for the info, i do like the nf720 but the player for the n7100 is really nice, if it does a 2.1 then thats fantastic.

According to the manual, you can turn on sound effect mode and set it as 2ch Stereo

"[2ch Stereo]: This system outputs the sound from the front left/right speakers and subwoofer only. Multi-channel surround formats are downmixed to 2-channel"
