I use a VGN-NR38E model with Vista.

I was using Photobucket and when I clicked on 'Browse' everything froze when the window opened. I couldn't click on anything and Ctrl+Alt+Del wouldn't work, so I just turned it off by holding the power button.

But when I turned the laptop back on I got a screen saying "Windows is searching for files..." with a progress bar under it that only went up two thirds of the way before stopping for a while until I got a screen saying:

Windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer.

This error can be caused by unplugging a removable storage device such as an external USB drive while the device is in use, or by faulty hardware such as a hard drive or CD-ROM drive that is failing. Make sure any removable storage is properly connected and then restart your computer.

If you continue to receive this error message, contact the hardware manufacturer.

Status: 0xc00000e9

Info: An unexpected I/O error has occurred.

The same thing happens if I choose the repair option on the F8 boot menu. But I wasn't using any external USB drives when I turned the laptop off.

If I choose any other boot option, including Start Up Normally, it never starts up. It stays on one screen forever until I turn the laptop off.

I left it on normal start up all night and it just stayed on the screen with the loading bar and (C) Microsoft Corporation under it.

I've tried starting the laptop up on every mode both with and without the USB devices connected.
