Touchpad sensitivity

The touchpad on my VAIO is way too sensitive. It's constantly copying text; it's scrolling through web pages at ridiculous speeds; it moves files all over the place; and it clicks into files etc by itself. It's driving me crazy. I only have it one month and already I feel like throwing it out the window. Any advice would be appreciated.

^{Can you first check that the correct driver is installed? Open Device Manager and expand ‘Mice and other pointing devices’ – you should have a Pointing Device listed but if there is a PS/2 mouse then the correct driver is not installed.}

^{Otherwise have you checked the mouse properties and options either via Control Panel or Vaio Contol Center? If you have a Synaptics touch pad you will find the sensitivity and scrolling adjustment by opening Mouse Properties, clicking the Device Settings tab and then ‘Settings’.}
