&lt;P&gt;If device manager is showing no errors then&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;I'm afraid this sounds more like a hardware problem..&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;I have had optical drives fail on me previously, and your symptoms sound very similar.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Just out of interest have you installed any software or updates&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;recently that may have affected your Vaio?&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;I think the best thing to do is give Sony Support a ring on &lt;SPAN&gt;&lt;A href="tel:02073652810" target="_blank"&gt;+44 (0) 2073652810&lt;/A&gt;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi Users&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I am having a problem&amp;nbsp;with my CD/DVD drive, on inserting a new disk properties read fully used but zero data, it prompt&amp;nbsp;for disk to be added when there is a new disk already in the drive.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;although it makes the usual cd drive noises as if ts trying to read the CD, there is zero result, will not find&amp;nbsp;data on disk, or play music CD.&lt;BR /&gt;I have tried with a air duster to clean the 2 leds (laser) in the with no change.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;My laptop is a Sony VAIO vpcee3z0e running windows 7 64 bit, CD/DVD drive Optiarc BD Rom&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;BC-5500H sata Cdr .&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I don't&amp;nbsp;know if the drive is faulty, it says "this device is working properly" or if a driver problem.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I have tried searching for this model laptop and it comes up with a near match, so i really don't&amp;nbsp;know is there is driver that's&amp;nbsp;correct.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Thanks jumpsuit and Owen,cass&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;"&lt;SPAN&gt;Just out of interest have you installed any software or updates"&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;I tried to install&amp;nbsp;what I thought was the correct driver, and as it failed, I take it that it was not the right driver download.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;It is a long shot but what do I know.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;There was a update that always failed to install in windows updates.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;AMD Phenom ll tripple core processor&amp;nbsp;64 bit&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Advanced Micro devices, Inc driver update for AMD SMBus&lt;BR /&gt;I gave up trying as I didn't&amp;nbsp;notice any change in behaviour&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;a bit off topic, when I logged in today I was asked to register my product, I added&amp;nbsp;the product number and when i tried to select&amp;nbsp;the other required boxes, IE bought from Cosco uk, i got a circle icon wit a line through it like a black no entry sign, and even if i could fill in when i bought the laptop, I don't&amp;nbsp;remember, quite a long time when the product was new.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;I wonder if I cant complete, then I will be locked out by the software, which would mean I could not reply&amp;nbsp;as I am doing now, as the system&amp;nbsp;may be automatic??&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Just saw your edit&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;looks like a new drive then, and not a driver or AMD failed update problem.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;thanks all&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hello jumpsuit&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I rang&amp;nbsp;up support yesterday, as you suggest, and he talked me trough uninstall driver, restart, install (try) driver etc. (did not work).&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;as you all concluded, driver repair/ new drive .&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;so I am fixing to get me&amp;nbsp; a new drive drive, and hopefully&amp;nbsp;all will be sorted.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Thanks again everybody for help.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;By the way, Sony support personal,&amp;nbsp;I am well impressed&lt;/P&gt;</description>
