Unable to access BIOS after replacing Hard Drive on SVE1512M1IEW (Windows 8)

I'm wondering if anyone can help!

I have a friends laptop here which has a faulty hard drive which I'm in the process of replacing.

The problem I'm having is that I am unable to access the BIOS to change the boot device, I know that Windows 8 uses UEFI, but whatever key I press I only get a VAIO logo and then a message saying "Operating System Not Found".

I've tried Assist (powered off & on), Esc, F1, F2, F10 and Del none of these make any difference, I've entered the BIOS on many desktop/laptops over the years and many Windows 8 PCs.

Without the ability to enter the BIOS this Sony laptop has become a break!

I've wasted a couple of hours, googling it but with the same results, use one of the above!

I've also looked in the manual which is no help at all, it talks about the BIOS but doesn't say which key to use to enter it!

Hi eyez73

The usual method is to press the ASSIST button with the Vaio completely shut down. This should open 'Rescue Mode' and you can scroll and select from the menu - or press F2 to get into BIOS Setup or press F11 to start from Oprical Disc or USB.

Perhaps there is another fault?
