Hi Margot,

You can try a simple soft reset (press and hold the power button on the remote for 10 seconds) or unplug the TV from the mains for a minute the plug it back in again to refresh it.

Does the same happen if you connect the TV to a Wi-Fi hot spot?

Win_88

Hi Win_88

I'll try what you suggest about restarting.

The odd thing is that the message comes up about every 30 minutes despite the fact that the 'Settings' on the tv tell me there is a connection.

Since my last post, a Sky engineer has suggested that my new Sky hub may need replaced. They'll send me a new one next week so we'll see if that helps.

There is quite a bit of discussion about this on AVForums and it seems to be an issue with the way the Sky router interacts with the AF9. People with other ISPs (like myself) or other routers so not experience this problem.

I don't think that anything you can do on TV will help this - it is a Sky router issue

The 'soft restart' hasn't worked I'm afraid and I think it will turn out to be a problem with the Sky Q hub speaking to the AF9 - even though the tv tells me, in Settings, that it is connected. Sky to the rescue . . . . ?

Sky engineer has visited and said he would recommend to Sky that they send me a new hub - though he found nothing wrong with either the hub or the speed of my connection. Nothing heard from Sky yet and no new hub.

The message continues to appear on the tv from time to time - I can't see a pattern to it yet - so no solution has been found. Somehow I don't think the tv is at fault but the hub and tv aren't quite 100% in sync in some way I don't understand. I'll post a solution should it appear . . .

I watched a film last night on Sony blu Ray player last night and WiFi alert came up around 5/6 times in 2hrs. I’m just thinking I had a A1 before the AF9 which is a model down and never had these issues so I’m now near enough think that it’s the tv not sky as the A1 has no issue. When I spoke to a Sony advisor a few weeks ago the first person said he hadn’t heard about issues but when I rang again the second advisor said he had heard of the issues and there would be and update, to whom I’m still in communication with,2 weeks later and lack of response I still don’t know as had no feed back?

Ridinghighuk - how interesting.

That does point towards something amiss with the tv rather than the hub. I have also contacted Sony tech support by email and await their response. If they can come up with a fix I'll put that up.

I’m receiving this message too but only since I was directed to do an upgrade. Telephoned my Sony provider and the engineer said he’d experienced the same problem but cured it by continuinly holding down the on/off button, it worked for him, allegedly but not for me. Incidentally, I do have WiFi connection and the message every 30 seconds or so is driving me nuts!!!

Mines a AF9 55inch oled. Had it when I first got in, messaged and called Sony and they said it was a known problem and could do nothing until they had researched. Then I got told that within 2weeks a new update was being rolled out about 6months ago now and It solved the problem I had auto updates on and waited. Very frustrating. For now the only thing you can do is turn your WiFi off on the tv while ur watching tv channels, that all I could do.

Sent from my iPhone

I had this problem months ago but has sorted itself,I believe through the latest update. I also rang sony helpline before and they may be able to get the code of your tv an download for you. They kept blaming it on my WiFi which clearly wasn’t the issue as it’s now resolve. For now you can turn off your WiFi so it’s not so annoying but isn’t any help if you want the internet apps though it.

Sent from my iPhone

Anyone know if there is any fix for this. Happens in my AF9 every couple of weeks. Sometimes reconnects and sometimes fails to. If you go to settings you see it report trying to connect, fail, try again etc. Normally it succeeds in the end but sometimes I end up having to rein out security code.

ISP is Sky but all WiFi is through a BT Whole Home WiFi. TV has line of site to the BT disc connected to the Sky router. WiFi signal isn’t about -50dbm with clear channels on both 2.4 and 5Ghz.

No other devices on network have the problem. Could it be a dual band issue?

TV is update on firmware and it has done this off and on since new just over 18 months ago.
