Lets address one at a time, the scratches on the main camera will create this problem, as the camera will focus on the scratches not on the objects that you are trying to focus on.

as for the front camera, does your phone has a protective case, film, glass, scratches on the front camera?

The front facing camera its of course not as great as the main camera, the sensor its quite small and its only 2.2mp, as far as the rear camera the problem is that its scratched, again, you will have to replace the camera module.

If it wasn't scratched you can take amazing pictures with the Z3.

I've the same problem since i bought my z3. My previous z n z1's front camera is way way better than my z3. I don't understand why i get a grainy and blur picture whether its day or night. While the rear camera is just ok but most of the time it goes out of focus. It focuses on the background instead the subject while capturing a portrait. For portrait in daylight i use 20mp resolution and multi point auto focus. Multiple focus gives a little better image but the soft skin from scene mode is worst, the face always remains out of focus.

I have definitely noticed a difference in picture quality after the last firmware update. No matter what mode I am using the pictures come out grainy also. I thought it was my lense but it is flawless in condition. Auto focus is not as good anymore. I was comparing pictures I took while on 5.0.2 fw and the difference is noticeable.
