I have miraculously cracked screen whilst in my pocket & can now not use phone at all as I cant get phone to unlock due to the crack, is there anyway to retrieve texxt messages at all. Any help please gratefully appreciated

You could try using a USB OTG cable in order to connect a mouse that you would use on a Pc - Google USB OTG

I have tried connecting the mouse but nothing happens.

Do you get a little mouse pointer on your phones screen? If not then I'm afraid I know of no other way
