Z5 Dual: Dual-active?

Hello I'm seriously considering the Z5 Dual as my next phone.

I'm currently having 2 SIM cards, one with only data plan (LTE, can't make calls) and the other with only voice plan (GSM). My question is: Will I be able to make/receive calls while browsing the internet via the data SIM if i have both SIMs installed and activated?

Any comment is appreciated.

Does the Z5 Dual dialer allow one of the two SIM cars to be set as default for outgoing calls?

Apparently the C5 Ultra Dual does not allow a default SIM for calls and therefore the SIM must be chosen for each call. This has the side effect of making it impossible to dial from the car dialer because the phone gets stuck on the SIM selection screen.

Is it the same with the Z5?

I really need a dual SIM phone where I just receive calls and text messages on the second SIM and I don't want to choose the correct SIM card each time I call.

If the Z5 has the same issue, are there phones from other brands that do what I need, i.e. allow a default SIM for calls?

The device is dual standby according to GSM arena and I also found this on XDA:

I think that while you have a mobile data connection on one SIM (first one), the other is GSM only.

I understand your point. What I want to know is that whether voice calls on SIM 2 will be interrupted if I use data via SIM 1 at the same time, and vice versa.

Hi @gunzlynger,

It's not possible to have a conversation on one SIM card and use mobile data on the other SIM card at the same time.

Hmm.. Really confused as I've received contradicting info from different sources. Just got off the online chat with Sony's technical support was told that it can handle calls and data on different SIMs simultaneously. Now I don't know whether I should buy this phone.. Won't work if it's not dual-active 🤔

Yes you can use one sim for call and one sim for Data.

I use my Z5 dual one sim for call and the other sim for call and data and working very good.
