I am using the Z1 but run 4.4.4 firmware and also live on the coast or near the sea and can't say that has an issue on my phone regarding phantom touches however I do have them from time to time and find that it's because either my screen is full of finger prints etc or it does have a slight residue but from me using it in hot environment causing my finger prints to be (not sure how to explain this) oily, I find cleaning the screen with a glass cleaner and restarting fixes this issue, With regards to icons going missing then some members report that have reported this have found that they are using a guest account

Hi guys

I have Xperia Zr with 5.1

and it worked all fine and well yesterday.

i was out using my phone and the battery drained out. after i came home and charged my phone some of my icons were missing

and the touch was acting all weird, meaning, for example, when I pressed the "home" button few other button were pressed, or it was hard to scroll in all directions, I tried to do factory reset + data reset, and it worked. for a while.

but today in the morning,(the phone was not in charged during the night, and it still had battery in the morning) and again the same "weirdness" happened again.

what else can i do.?

ps

my friend said it may the result of the high humidity ( i live near the sea)

Not sure about the humidity part, let's rule out any software problems first:

- Try if this happens in safe mode.

- Perform a software repair via PC Companion if you didn't try it yet, will yield much better results than factory reset.

I have the exact same problem, and it all started when I moved to a city at the seaside (after a couple of months). I don't really know if it has anything to do with that. I am getting ghost touches, usually on the keyboard part of the screen. There's also some residue on the screen left by my fingers due to the hot environment and I am not using any screen protector. All I have to do is clean the screen, either with a cloth, sleeve, whatever, or under a jet of water and it all works again. Until it gets dirty and I have to repeat.

I also noticed that while I was using a screen protector this never occured.
