"Continuously says "android is starting" after startup.

When I restarted my phone after I was notified it took a while to turn on and now it gives me a black screen with the message "android is starting, optimizing application x of 200 " and as soon as it reaches 200 it starts again with application 1 and has been doing this for 8 hours,

Can you try boot to safemode before it boots in to normal mode.

Thanks, but the problem is my phone never even reaches the point where I can boot it to safe mode . On start-up , it basically shows the Sony Xperia(black screen) then powered by android and that wave thing all the Sony phones do and then goed to a black screen that gives me the android is starting message.

I agree with Uliwooly, a software repair sounds like the best course of action.

I have supplied the instructions on use for PC and Mac below.

Here's how to run the repair on PC Companion:
1. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
2. Phone Software Update.
3. Start.
4. Repair Phone
5. Continue
6. Accept data removal
7. Next
8. Wait for prepare
9. Select Phone
10. Follow the connection steps

And Bridge for Mac:
1. Launch Bridge for MAC without the handset connected.
2. On the Main Window select "Xperia > Repair Xperia Device".
3. Ensure the phone is charged and select "Ok" in the following window.
4. Select Continue on the following page.
5. Wait until the initialising step is finished the continue as below.
6 . Select your model of phone from the list that appears
7. Follow the connection steps that appear, ensuring that you are holding the relevant button down before during and after the connection phase until the update/repair begins.

I'm having the same problem with my phone. I can't get it to connect to PC Companion for long enough for the software to do anything (before it starts with "android is starting" again). If it does start up then any app I open crashes/stops.

Any suggestions?

I've only had the phone for a couple of weeks and until now I was really impressed. Now... not so much.

Hi mrsevans101,

When you are performing the repair, are you making sure to keep the handset turned off at all times as well as keeping it disconnected until the last step?
