Cannot remove app switcher favorites bar

Anyone — Mon, 01 Dec 2014 15:49:41 GMT

I went from a Z to a Z3 compact. I never used the favorites bar and for all I care it can be removed. So I've tried... I've got an empty bar now by removing all shortcuts. However, on the "small" 720p screen, the bar is still filling up a lot of space while being empty. How can I turn this annoying thing off? With the new "close all X" button, this part of my screen now takes up 25% and not even 3 applications fit in the list...

Hi,

As far as I know, it's not possible to remove or disable the small app bar and/or function.

@Anyone,

There is an XDA thread on how to do this... root is required though:

It appears to work on all Xperia devices with Smart Apps.

How do I get root? A bit stupid that it's so much effort just to get it off. Fine that I get extra crap, but at least let me remove it 😕

@Anyone,

The XDA forums has a lot of information. I have not rooted my phone yet, but this is where I'll look when I'm ready.

Start with the link I've provided above and you can search the forums.
