The only time I have seen this on Sony devices is when they have tried to flash modified firmware - As recently as the Z1 however a manual flash using Flashtools has fixed this issue

the same thing happend to my acro s in January. i had bought mine from China thus it did not have google services. i upgraded it to Jelly bean and lost my IMEI and Baseband in the process. i thought it was a small issue but i later found out that it was indeed a big one.i downloaded various ftf files and tried flashing the phone but all did not work.THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TO FLASH BACK THE ORIGINAL FIRMWARE, THE STOCK ROM....unfortunately mine is not available on the internet. so im stuck with a media player and SONY services on this page dont even bother to respond to ou problems, they just sit there reading our problems and dont even bother to help us. I suggest we move to HTC or SAMSUNG where there are no issues like these
