Xperia Mini Pro SK17i - Extream Battery Drain FW 4.1.B.0.587

Hi,

I upgraded my SK17i to the latest ICS 4.1.B.0.587 and there is extream battery drain while the phone is on stand by. I tried repairing the phone and reflashing with flashtool, still the same problem persists. Please see the below screenshots. The phone has been idle (No use at all) and the time without signal is 0%. Guys please understand, what we need above all advanced features is EXCELENT BATTERY LIFE! Please elaborate what you have done to make the battery drain faster?

AND... When can we expect a fix? Please release one ASAP, my phone is almost useless as it lasts 3-4 hours now with light use!

And now I figured out that the battery drain happens only when the phone is on 3G standby. When it is on GSM (Edge) there is NO battery drain!!!

Please help with a sollution.

If you are facing battery drain problem while using 3G network then try to verify it with other netwok's SIM as low network causes battery to drain faster!

I have always had the same provider. The battery drain started after the software update. And as you can see from the screenshots above the network signal is excelent!

This is Edge network means GSM not 3G!

And I have obseved that on some 3G networks though the signal strenght is full battery drains faster while on others battery lasts long.

Thats why give it a try.

I noticed the battery drain 2 nights back. I leave the phone at usual place right next to the bed. i always get 12-14 hours with moderate use. After the update the battery is done for by morning. Before the update this never happened. Now with use and 3G on, I get like 6-7 hours. many times my phone switched off. The same has happened at my office, a completely different location.

3G signals are amazing at my city. Its everywhere. Anyway, I'll give it a try with my other connection. I dont know if you have noticed but a lot of people who updated the latest firmware are facing this issue.

I am devastated now!

Tried with new sim. Same problem. I think the drain takes place when the phone is on idle. If you are using it now and then, the drain is significantly less.

In short the drain happens only on standby.

I am also facing the same problem. Extream battery drain after updating to 4.1.B.0.587

After moderate use battery lasts for only 8 hrs.

Please provide some solution or a new update to fix battery drain problem.

Glad too see some one else how has realised that this problem exists. I dont know why but for some reason Sony is ignoring me!!!

I really hope they help or this would be the last sony phone I am going for!

Did you get any answer for this? I have the same issue.

I updated OS to ICS & it started giving battery problems. I went to service center & they downgraded the OS to 2.3.4. I still had the same issue, battery draining out in "Cell standby" & "Idle" mode.

Service center guys asked me to replace the battery & I still continue to have the same problem with the new battery as well. Still running on 2.3.4.

Someone plz help......It is annoying to charge the phone atleast 3 times a day...

its bullshit sony kernel .

i tested mesa kenel and slove problem .

ihave 3G simcard in iran (rightel ) and low signal ( -79 db ) but 3 days battery work for my phone .

i have stock frimware 587 xperia and kernel mesa 2.2 . fix battery drain

As CrashOverride said looks like it is the problem with 3G mode.

I tried the following and now it is not draining the battery much-

1. Goto Mobile network settings and change "Network Mode" to GSM only.

2. Goto "Network operators" and change Search mode to manual. In Search Networks select 2G network of your provider.

I know this is not a solution but, your battery will not drain that fast.

I faced same problem so dont bother here is solution

*Installation*

The installation is no different than other custom kernels.

First make sure you have an unlocked bootloader(imp)
When your phone is turned off, press the up vol button and connect your phone to your computer (Fastboot mode)
You must see the led turning blue
Open Flashtool >flash device(left most lightning icon)>flash boot mode>select kernal to flash(extreme left)>flash downloaded kernal
You must see "0 bad blocks encountered" in the log. In case you see, it's safe to disconnect and reboot, otherwise redownload the kernel and try flashing again.
Thats it bug is removed

Also baterry quickly discharges when phone are switch off. Form 96 % discharge to 50 % after 12 hours. Is a hardware problem not software.
