phone app keeps crashing

i've had my phone for a while now, and the "phone" system app keeps crashing the second i open it, i can't see any way to install/delete updates to try and get it to work again, i've tried force stopping it, but it doesn't do anything since it's already crashed anyways

Hi @mr_judytje, sorry to hear that.

I can see that you have tried force stopping the application, but I would recommend that try and clear cache for the application and then start it up again. If that doesn't help, try clearing the application data and you can find both options if you follow the instructions below.

Go to Settings > Apps & Notifications > App information > Phone > Storage > Clear cache/Data > OK.

I went looking around and in the desktop companion program I found the option for "repairing" an app, so I used that, and it worked
