Does the XA support VOLTE? The whitepaper on Sony Mobile's site states that the device does. But I am on T-Mobile US network and calls drop to UMTS/HSPA(3G). Sony support says the device does support VOLTE and I need to talk to carrier. Carrier says if the device supports VOLTE it should work. Nobody is giving good support. Does anyone know?

Hi @kevev,

Welcome to the community.

The Xperia XA is VOLTE compatible as you can see by the whitepaper, however it is up to the network to enable it. If you purchased your device unlocked or from another network, the firmware may not have VOLTE enabled. You usually need to the operators firmware to use it.

I recommend you contact T-Mobile for support.

Thank You for replying. The device is F3113 unlocked from BestBuy store in the US. T-Mobile says the device only needs to support VOLTE. There is nothing they need to do on their side. I have a Moto X Pure Edition that is unlocked and purchased directly from Motorola. VOLTE works on this device with my sim card. But when I put the sim card into the XA(F3113) VOLTE does not work. Does this device support VOLTE or not? I need a clear answer so I can decide weather to return it.

Yes, the Xperia XA does support VoLTE.

If it is not working, only your network operator can assist you.

Edit: The link I provided was for the XA Dual, but both the dual and single SIM variants support VoLTE.

Your network controls volte, not sony.
The device supports it but some networks insist the device has their firmware, or other settings...
There is literally nothing Sony can do to activate volte.
All troubleshooting and diagnostics on network services need to be done by the network.

The build.prop of this device shows ims & volte disabled. This is not controlled by the carrier. This is controlled by Sony. I can enable volte via build.prop and I now see mobile networks settings. It is listed as "Enable VoLTE". VOLTE still does not work. When I enable ims in build.prop the device hangs on boot(Correction no boot hang). To me this seems as though the ROM has incomplete VOLTE & IMS support which a lot of VOLTE providers use. Is there a known instance where a F3113 ROM has working VOLTE on any network in the whole world?

Update: Just tried an AT&T sim in the device. Same issue. VOLTE does not work.

According to three UK's website/page volte only works when all other methods of making a call fail I.e. 3g+,3g,2g only then will it revert to volte calling, clearly states it supported but no VOLTE settings anywhere I'm running a unlocked xa with my carrier's stock out of the box firmware three UK. I've never had a compatible device before so no idea how it really works(must call in the store to find out more)

Well according to my network(three UK) the xa will only revert to volte calling if all other ways to make a call fail due to no signal ect. My xa has my networks WiFi/volte calling app pre installed plus a app for account management and a splash screen but it runs the same firmware no as a network unlocked xa as that's what it is there is no option in the settings to enable volte calling by default.

Hi,
I recently purchased XA Ultra and I am using Reliance JIO sim and it is a complete 4G network. But XA Ultra has only LTE, enhanced LTE capabilities are not there and this is found in many low end phones. XA ultra uses Mediatek MT6755 Helio P10 processor which supports VOLTE. I am confused as why it is not available for my phone. A software update would fix this issue?
