BA700 battery reset possible?

I've got a weird issue that I have not found replicated on the forum. i apologise if I've simply missed it.

Sony xperia tipo dual, battery BA700 --rig about 18 months old.

About a month or two ago, all at once I lost charge at an alarming rate. When I plugged in the charger it would not take a full charge, always stopping below 100%. Right now, it stopped charging at 78%.

Interestingly, when I remove the battery from the phone, this seems to reset the battery and it will once again charge to 100% for a few times. I think letting the battery go too low may trigger the lowered capacity effect.

It seems to me, therefore, like a software issue. Is it possible to "reset" the battery?

I don't think it's a software issue, you could repair your phone with PCC

Thanks, I haven't had a lot of luck using the Sony PC Companion in the past. i'll see what it says.

I scrubbed the phone with the PC Companion software reset utility. Reinstalling all from scratch. I'll pop back in after a while to let you know if it helped my battery issues.

Looks like nuking the software back to factory reset solved the problem. Two charges from below 10%, which would have otherwise capped my charge to less than 90%, and both topoped at full charge.

On the other hand, I did have to completely scrub my software which, while not the end of the world, was kind of a pain in the butt.

If the actual software issue could be identified and a reset app created for battery recovery, yes, that would have been a much more pleasant fix. All in all, glad it's fixed, but there should be a better way.
