The screen goes dark

Greetings to all

The screen of my sp becomes dark: it happens suddenly, doing different things and using different apps. Screen freezes and darkens to become dark yellow, almost the color of a scroll. This takes about 5 seconds, during which the screen does not work: after that, is released and returns to work.
I can fix it or do I contact support?

Try performing a system repair using Pc Companion as this will often fix issues - This will factory reset your phone

Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the onscreen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process

If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP

Hi! I have the same issue, and as I know, this is a kernel bug related to 4.3 .205 and . 207. It doesn't affect all xperia sps, and depends on the diplay panel type, because the graphic driver is not perfect for one of them. Sony didn't releas any software repair to solve the problem, and I think they won't do anything about it, because software support of this model is over.

Yes, it did, i managed to bring it back to the factory settings by following the procedure: now i will take some days to see if t works

The phone is still under warranty and I sent it for assistance. They repaired it: they changed the display module and reprogrammed the software. Now I'll see if it works.

I have two of these phones and my son has an MP. They all are bugged/inoperative in the way they handle the light sensor for darkening the screen. I complained about this earlier and was told it is a FEATURE.

It is an irritating problem and Sony has lost me as a customer. I will not purchase any more of their phones. They provide no way to disable this problem and it is making me want to throw the phone 2-3 times every day. It is the worst outside or in a car. Sony was so concerned about battery life claims for a selling point the "engineers" ignored a basic function. My wife and I often can not hang up a call without tyring to restart the phone. That's another irritation. When this happens the power button sometimes will not do anything. Well, you can't remove the battery so all you can do is wait...wait...wait and hope that the phone will do something.

I am serously considering rooting this POS as the warranty is a joke and not worth a grain of sand. Howerver I am not yet sure that will solve the problem.

Problem fixed: the solutions are replacing the display module and software reprogrammation, that's what the Sony technical assistance did. The made a great job in less than a week.
