Just got a Sony android 75" 4K tv. SD quality is grainy and like old VHS video. Watched usb content for years on other tv's. Picture quality is really poor, hdd and files meet Sony spec.

@louster50b

Other 4K TVs? TVs that big? Are you sitting further back to compensate for the bigger screen size?

I’m not clear, though, if you are talking about watching SD content via USB, or about watching broadcast SD quality plus watching USB.

If the former, try watching some broadcast SD, and seeing how that compares with what’s coming off the USB.

And try watching some HD, or better yet 4K, content off the USB, to see if that looks compromised at all.

When you watch HD on a 4K screen, the TV’s upscaling has to invent 3 pixels out of every 4, but that is still pretty OK.

When you watch SD, though, it’s 15 out of every 16, which is almost guesswork. And good though the Sony upscaling is, possibly the best in the business, it can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear.

The downside of a 75in 4K TV is that it makes SD pretty close to unwatchable 😢
