Do you have any plans to update this TV to support eARC? Can we get a confirmation that you plan to update it, or that you never will update it? After looking at the schematics, it looks like the chipset supports eARC. I need a confirmation, because if you won't update the firmware, I'll have to buy a new TV (not a Sony this time)...

Personal opinion, I don't think Sony will add eARC to AF8. Sorry for the question, but for what reason would you like eARC? What do you need to connect that requires it?

I have pre-ordered a Sonos Arc, and I only watch BR movies with True HD audio track. I'm very happy with the TV, and the only downside is the missing eARC connection. I don't want to buy a new TV after 1.5 year because I need eARC.

I can understand why they don't upgrade it to Android Pie, and personally I don't need it. But from my understanding, it supports eARC, but they won't update the firmware.

Ok I don't add more then, I asked it because many don't know that Atmos on DD+ (for example) is also conveyed on ARC, but not a TrueHD track...

It looks like the ATV4K don't support this, it needs a eARC connection.

Hi, i’m also interested in upgrade to eArc. Is it really technically possible? How can this be formally requested by Sony?

A few models have received updates to enable eARC over the past few months. Not sure if the same will happen with the AF8 though. But it's a possibility.
