It appears its only available on the Sony TVs which support Apple AirPlay 2* so not sure any of the other models will be getting it. Its probably worth approaching Apple. My 2017 XE9005 and my 2019 XG9005 don't seem to support it either.

*Currently only supported by ZG9, AG9, XG95 and XG85 UK models numbers

Sony/Android TV won't get the TV app at all. AirPlay 2 support to "cast" the stuff off of an iDevice has yet to arrive. The XF9005 won't get the update though.

Sony look like cowboys who have deliberately made TV’s that can’t handle simple Apps.

maybe it’s an up selling feature to get you to realise that the £1000 you paid was for a pile of uselessness.

how do I get a refund

you wrote the specs up like it would be amazing but it’s just like having a 3 year old tv but new that does nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Netflix picture quality is abysmal because I can’t adjust it for some crazy reason.

a firmware update ( V6.4960 )

with a lower number than my current one

( v6.7140 ) says it includes Apple TV+

how is this consistent.

the TVs are like their phones in that every single one has a different operating system version on them it’s ridiculous.

Sony now make crap tvs that are not fit for purpose. The HDR is dark as mud and their tvs are behind their competitors.

I’m thinking a cheap Roku hisense will be better as at least its operating system will work.

Hi dabasto98,

Try clearing the cached data (under Device Preferences - Storage - Internal Shared Storage - Cached data) then hold the Power button for ~5 sec to reset the TV. When the TV is back up, try adjusting the settings for Netflix using the Action Menu/Option button on your remote while you have it open and playing.

As a specialist you will know that this particular TV model has been made deliberately bad!!!
the 1 thing I keep asking is WHY?

the 800 series & 950 & above series has more features.

why did Sony Kill the KD-49XG9005????

I would love an answer!!!!!!!!!

XG9005 is a rebranded XF9005 which has been based on a MediaTek SoC from 2016.

XG9005/XF9005 does not seem to be dead as it just received the Pie upgrade.

I don’t care about pie or mushroom or even xylophone I just want my tv to have access to the most popular apps and to watch in at least HD but would love UHD HDR not the crappy Dark version though!!!!!!!!!
