T-Com Home Internet connection with maximum 100 Mb/sec dowlnoad speed through traditional telefon wire, router is also supplied by T-Com. Download speed through wire (no Wifi) connection to a Windows 10 desktop pc or laptop measured by Speedtest.net is about 80 Mb/sec with relatively narrow speed fluctuation. Through the very same wire connection and cable, practically in the same time, the download speed of a KDL-43W807C Android Sony smart TV- measured by speedtest.net ranges from 10 to 55 Mb/sec, i.e. the speed does not exceed 55 Mb/sec (vs 80 Mb/sec through a pc) and speed fluctuation is large. Due to the lower and variable download speed, a movie is offten not continuous but interrupted even from a strong server (such as You Tube). What can be the reason for the lower donwload speed by Sony TV and its substantial fluctuations?

Hi jcsaba,

Do you get the same results if the TV is connected via Wi-Fi? If they are different, I'd recommend changing the Ethernet cable currently used to connect the TV as it may be causing this. It's possible to test the TV independently if you get high speeds through 4g for example, by connecting the TV to your phone via a Wi-Fi hotspot and running the same test. Let us know how it goes so we can get this one sorted!

Hi, Win_88

Wi-Fi sign is relatively poor as the router is located in the basement where
we have an in-house telephone switch. Therefore download speed via Wi-Fi is
even slower. When I compared the download speed by laptop to that by the TV
set, I used the same cable and same plug (The cable is cca 10 m long and
CAT5 or CAT5e). It is always said that any device used for transmission or
change of connection type may reduce the download speed. It makes no sense
to use other type of connection to get to know the reasons why the TV set
download speed is lower than the PC's from the same network. My guess as the
possible reason is rather the operating system or the internet browser. As
Sony updated the Android version a few months ago, the earlier internet
browser Opera was changed for Vewd browser. I contacted Sony Customer
service, look forward their reply.

Hi,

The point of the test with a different network is to find out if the issue is caused by the TV itself (independently from your home network).

You could also try resetting the TV to factory settings to make sure that the firmware is not running into some kind of a glitch. You can find the steps here.
