[Help] Vaio VGN-SZ1HP/B

Hi!

I'm in trouble with a Vaio VGN-SZ1HP/B. After a power outage when the computer was working without battery, it is dead. I mean, it doesn't boot.

When power is turned on, power indicator and battery indicator do lit up, the optical drive mazes some noise and that's it - the VAIO logo doesn't appear on the screen and no boot sequence starts.

I suppose the BIOS is corrupted.

Any ideas?

Thank you for your help!

Hi etmabreu and welcome to Club Vaio.

You could be right but as the optical drive makes noises, I would borrow an XP Pro installation disc from a friend and see if you can boot into the Recovery Console (press R at the 'Welcome to Setup' Screen).

If this works it may be your boot records that have become corrupted and you can try to repair your Master Boot Record and Boot.ini.

Reflashing the BIOS chip should be a last resort!
